Several weeks before the official release (22.10.1998), LSD: Dream Emulator was in a phase of closed beta testing. This beta version was never published and was distributed only among the developers of the game. Several images of the beta version were showcased in the official "Is This Legal?" commercial for LSD: Dream Emulator. Every single frame from the fast image compilation was extracted and is archived on this wiki.
Documented Changes[]
During the beta testing phase, the OSD Team were working on final polishing of certain aspects of the game.
Most of the changes included texture replacements and additions. This way, previous original texture pack for Happy Town was recycled to create kanji texture sheets, which are used in the final game. Former original textures were replaced with colorful surreal images and artistic drawings. It is very likely that old original textures were simply considered to be not vivid enough to match the atmosphere of the Happy Town.
Some other documented texture additions and changes also include Bright Moon Cottage, with original texture additions and sexual texture sheet replacements for grass surfaces. There are other unused textures and objects in the game, which never made it into the final release of the game.
